Hernando, MS (AP) - Police are keeping many details to themselves of two deadly shootings along Mississippi highways that authorities believe could be at the hands of someone posing as law enforcement who is pulling people over.

DeSoto County district attorney John Champion said at a Monday news conference that specifics could not be released, including whether authorities believe it's a single gunman or what type of weapon was used.

Champion says the shootings are related but there's no evidence to suggest that the victims knew each other.

A 74-year-old man was found in his car on Interstate 55 in nearby Panola County on May 8. Three days later, a 48-year-old woman was found near her car on Mississippi Highway 713 in Tunica County.
