Student Assaulted Near Beadle Middle School
Middle school boys on a track team, running near their school, never thinking they'd have to run in fear.
"I was really shocked, I couldn't believe it. With somebody pulling up and getting out, I couldn't believe it", says parent Jeff Wesson.
The scare at Beadle Middle School started when a white SUV pulled along side the boys.
Inside, a few guys, one even wearing a mask. He, according to the sheriff's report, started asking the track team if they wanted candy, then sprang from the car and punched and tackled a boy on the track team.
"This area isn't really known for this kind of violence let alone kids riding around and approaching other kids, and assaulting anybody so I was really surprised and concerned for the area too because we don't live far from here", says parent Kelli Povich.
While the middle school boy isn't badly hurt, parents are pretty shaken.
Especially since no one's been arrested.
"It's hard to believe when something like that happens out here in this area because a lot of people don't think a lot of that stuff happens out here so it was kind of shocking to hear, especially since it seems like this area is pretty patrolled", says parent Cari Tarver.
The school alerted parents, who worry it could be their kid next.
"Yes I got an email today, and I was very nervous, about well there's lots of kids that walk home from school it's not just the kids running around the track so it's kinda scary that happened", says parent Robyn Piper.
The school has even changed how the team will practice. No running along the outside of the property. They'll stay where someone can see them all the time.
