Lincoln, NE (AP) - Bond has been set at $5,000 for former Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, who is accused of punching a police officer over the weekend.

Dennard is charged with third-degree felony assault of a police officer. Police say he struck the officer during a disturbance outside a Lincoln bar about 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

Dennard has been held in the Lancaster County Jail since his arrest. His attorney, Terry Daugherty, said he was glad to get Dennard out of jail on Monday.

Daugherty declined further comment.

Dennard is projected to be taken in this week's NFL draft. He was the 2011 Big Ten defensive back of the year.

His next court appearance is May 15.
