Ultrasound Tech Behind Bars, Accused Of Raping Female Patients
Omaha, NE- A man trained to help heal is now behind bars, accused of seriously hurting three female patients.
Wednesday, police arrested 27 year-old Kevin Ryan for two charges of first degree sexual assault.
Ryan worked as an ultrasound technician at Midwest Cardiology at 8420 West Dodge Road.
According to Douglas County Attorney, Don Kleine, three women came forward and told Omaha Police while getting ultrasounds on their legs, chest and abdomen at Midwest Cardiology, Ryan sexually assaulted them.
"This person was using the rues of putting someone through a test and obviously this sort of contact isn't part of any medical examination for testing circulation with regard to leg veins and arteries," says Kleine. "The contact is totally inappropriate, non-consensual, and it wasn't part of a medical examination."
Police reports show the three female victims are 64, 55, and 17 years old.
Kleine says Ryan is accused of raping the two older women and inappropriately touching the teenager.
The assaults happened in August, October, and December of 2011.
"Obviously this person is using that position for a wrongful purpose in this situation to sexually penetrate women," says Kleine.
Kleine says there may be other victims and encourages them to come forward.
"The most important thing is so no one else becomes victimized by this and that's why it was so important for these women to come forward and let police know about what took place," says Klein.
Ryan will see a judge Thursday afternoon on the two charges of sexual assault. Each charge carries a penalty of up to 50 years in prison.
Midwest Cardiology tells Action 3 News, Ryan no longer works there.
