Omaha, NE - A diaper drive benefiting the Lydia House, a division of the Open Door Mission, is underway.

Put on by a sister station of KMTV Action 3 News, Channel 94.1, the drive at Nobbies located at 120th and Center will help Lydia House residents who need to care for their little ones.

"I have a sense of security now," said single mom Mikaela Fichter.

Just this year alone, the organization says it has seen a 37 percent increase in the use of its services.  That's why diaper drives like the one that kicked off Friday, the 9th annual for the Open Door Mission, is so crucial and means so much.

"Every little bit helps," said Open Door Mission CEO Candace Gregory.

With each donation, Gregory is grateful knowing the need continues to grow.

"We have 46 families and more than 72 single women.  For many of them, this is the first time they've had the opportunity to have their physical needs met."

The diaper drive is scheduled to last through the weekend.  If you want to drop off your donations you can do so on Friday from 7 A.M. - 8 P.M., Saturday from 8 A.M. - 8 P.M. and Sunday from 8 A.M. - 6 P.M.
