Volunteers, area residents disagree about...

Trump’s campaign headquarters in west Omaha attracted more than 100 volunteers since it opened Saturday and they’re optimistic the likely GOP nominee will make his first presidential campaign stop at Eppley Airfield Friday.

Although KMTV confirmed Trump’s Nebraska plans, local volunteers at 5006 S. 108th St. said Wednesday “higher ups” in New York have not confirmed it to them.

Regardless, they are excited about the developments but not everyone agrees.

Haley Bekins competed in the Miss Nebraska Teen USA Pageant in 2013, long before Donald Trump announced his candidacy, she’s been an avid supporter ever since.

She volunteers at campaign headquarters 12 hours per day.

“I fully support Trump and I want to dedicate my life 24/7 to him as he has been the leading front runner in the Republican campaign, Bekins said.

Bekins says she doesn’t agree with everything Trump says, but agrees most of what he stands for.

Two key issues are important to her.

“I fully support his ideals on women and I think that he is a very good supporter of women,” Bekins said.

Bekins says he looks up to Trump’s daughter Ivanka.

“She’s very nice,” she said. “She can raise a family and run a business at the same time. I feel like she’s a great woman to look up to.”

That’s the opposite of why Omaha resident Christi Bradley says she’ll support whoever runs against Trump for president.

“Trump has proven that he really does not want to do anything good for women,” Bradley said. “I also don’t want to go to war. I think Trump’s stance on going after ISIS and going after their family members is so dangerous.”

The two Omaha residents also have opposite views of Trump as a businessman.

“I was so excited that he was going to run for president because I fully support him and everything he’s done for himself and for his family,” Bekins said. “I feel he’ll treat the country as a business and that’s what the USA needs.”

“He's filed bankruptcy four or five times,” Bradley said. “I don't think that's a man who is going to be able to keep our country going economically.”

KMTV confirmed Trump’s plan to visit Eppley Airfield Friday.
