We're learning more about what led up to this quintuple shooting that left a mother and daughter dead,
Police need the publics help finding the man they believe is responsible for shooting and killing a mother and her two-year-old daughter in northwest Omaha. Family and friends tell us that mother was also pregnant.
At about 11 Sunday night police respond to a shooting at a townhome near 108th 7 Military Rd. There they find 22-year-old Destacia Straughn and her daughter 2-year-old Kenacia Amerson-Straughn dead. Three other women between the ages of 18 and 22 were also shot, and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The suspect 23-year-old Dontevous Loyd is wanted for two counts of murder, and three counts of attempted murder. Police need your help locating him, and say don't approach him, he’s considered armed and dangerous.
Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera since Loyd is still on the loose said he was at the townhome earlier in the night. When he came back he allegedly jumped a fence and entered the back door. They heard about 9 gunshots. One victim even ran to a neighbors place for help.
Police reports indicate Straughn called officers at 4pm Sunday saying her boyfriend, Loyd, stole her green Ford sedan while she was sleeping that morning and refused to bring it back. At 7pm officers responded to a disturbance at the same address. Straughn told police her child's father, Loyd, brought the vehicle back. Loyd is not the father of 2-year-old Kenacia. Four hours later both Destacia and her daughter were dead.
“She had called police on him in the past so that's something we'll look into has well to see what history they had leading up to last night's incident,” said OPD Ofc. Michael Pecha.
Again, Loyd should be considered armed and dangerous. The Metro Area Fugitive Task Force is actively searching for him. If you know where he is you're asked to call 911 or Crimestoppers at 402-444-7867. You can remain anonymous, and may be eligible for a cash reward.
