A local non-profit is dealing with the aftermath of an upsetting crime.  Someone broke into their building, and smashed anything they could get their hands on.

Police say on Feb. 19, someone broke into Compassion in Action at 35th and Blondo St., and vandalized the entire building.  The suspects threw bricks through a window and started trashing everything in sight in the fellowship room, and some of the offices.  Televisions, computers, dishes, fixtures, and a copy machine are some of the larger items that were damaged.  Police say the malicious destruction totals more than $10,000.

Compassion in Action helps people in prison make positive changes within themselves.

“That's a waste of life, and I work with people who could tell them straight up that's a waste of life don't do that, and so this kind of ignites what we're already doing and gives our men that are confined an opportunity to speak out to the lives of these young men,” said Teela Mickles, Founder of Compassion in Action.

Mickles believes that a group of teens may be behind the crime.

Police say they haven't identified any suspects so far in this felony burglary.
