Customers are urged to check your credit and bank statements if you've gotten gas in Ralston because one station found two credit card skimmers on its pumps.

It's unclear if anyone's information has been used, but someone servicing the pumps was able to identify the criminal activity.

The Ralston Police Dept. say credit card skimmers were found inside the card machines on two pumps at the “Super Store” gas station at 82nd & Harrison St. on Wednesday.

Criminals used a universal key to get inside the machines, and attach the devices.  It duplicates everyone's card information and can be remotely transferred when the suspects come back to the gas station.

Chief Ron Murtaugh says they've transferred the devices to the secret service to find out how many numbers are on them, and when they may have been put there.

“The gas pump skimming has been going on for some time but as we know most of those have been targeted along interstates well now as stations along the interstate have protected their property a little better now the criminals are moving inward into cities and things like that.  So it just goes to show you that everybody is vulnerable,” Chief Murtaugh explained.

Chief Murtaugh says no one has reported their card number being used after swiping it at the super store's pumps.

The gas station has since changed the locks on the transaction machines.  Other stations use tamperproof security stickers, change locks, and also monitor the machines.

Ralston police say if you've used this gas station to check your bank and credit accounts for any fraudulent transactions.  They also say if you'd like to protect yourself further go inside to pay for gas.  It takes a little bit longer but could save you from being a victim.
