The Nebraska Attorney General's office announced first-degree murder charges have been filed against a Tecumseh inmate in one of the prisoner deaths that occurred during a disturbance at the prison in March.

Eric L. Ramos, 26, an inmate at Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, was arrested in connection with the March 2 homicide of inmate Michael J. Galindo, 31, according to a release from the AG's office. The legal complaint also alleges one count of assault against Galindo; two counts of using a deadly weapon to commit a felony; and one count of tampering with evidence, the release states.

Galindo's body was found in a cell by prison officials after order had been re-established on March 2. An autopsy determined he had died after inhaling combustion products and sustaining multiple sharp and blunt-force injuries, the release states.

Ramos' prosecution will be handed by the Johnson County Attorney's Office, with assistance from the state AG's office.

The death of inmate Damon E. Fitzgerald, 39, also found dead after the disturbance, remains under investigation.
