Some customers are questioning if their fence will ever be installed

Pat Petersen's backyard seems to have it all.

“We have Tiki bar, we have a fire pit, we have a pool,” said Petersen. 

But the thing the Petersen’s need the most is missing.

“We need a fence.  We need to be able to use our backyard in the way we intended it to be used,” said Petersen.

Petersen says they hired Quality Fence to do work in their backyard.  On May 9th the company cashed a $2100 deposit.  Work was to begin in mid-June. 

“I called them on June 16th and was like so work is starting this week and she was like well I see that here, but it's not going to happen,” said Petersen.

Petersen says week after week Quality Fence gave her a new excuse why the job couldn’t begin or they just didn’t respond.  Her fence posts were put in two weeks ago. 

“I’m angry, I mean I want my fence,” said Petersen. 

Petersen and her husband finally said forget it; they hired another company who will come finish the job.  The couple is tired of waiting to use their new pool. 

“There really isn't a story other than we are behind,” said Quality Fence Owner Scott Harding.

But that’s the story.  Petersen isn’t the only customer complaining about the wait.  A gentleman in Gretna tells KMTV he has now waited 14 weeks for a new fence and all he has are posts. 

“I would rather get behind and do a quality product, than just hired anybody to work for me and do a bad job,” said Harding.

Quality Fence Owner Scott Harding says Mother Nature, sickness among his crews and other factors have put his company about three to four weeks behind. 

“Do you think you’ve done a good job communicating with your customers saying, hey we’ve fallen behind,” asked KMTV Reporter Emily Szink.

“No, it needs to be better.  It’s not as good as it should be honestly,” said Harding.

Harding says he knows customers are upset, but all the recent complaints to the Better Business Bureau are never about the quality of his company's work, they’re only about the time frame it's taken to get the job done. 

“You know you can't be in business 26 years and not be doing something right,” said Harding.

Harding says if Mother Nature behaves, just give his company a few weeks to make things right. 

“We just have to keep working at it and do a better job,” said Harding.

Harding says his company installs around 600 fences a year.  He says when you compare the complaints to the number of fences installed, it’s a very low percentage.
