Police need your help identifying a vehicle, they say, is responsible for the murder of a woman at 48th & Boyd St.

Officers and detectives will hand out flyers soon to help with gather leads on who killed Barbara Williams outside her apartment complex.

At about 4pm Monday, police say the suspect got out of the vehicle and fired at people outside the Lindenwood Court Apartments at 48th & Boyd St.  Barbara Williams, 55, was shot and killed.  Police say she was an innocent bystander.

Thursday, OPD releases surveillance video of the suspect’s vehicle driving on 49th Ave. just before the shooting occurred.  It’s described as a white 2006-08 Kia Optima.

Also Thursday, detective in the case asked for the public's help solving this murder because he says about 40 people were around and likely witnessed what happened.

"If we can't get him off the street there's a potential for him to repeat this over again, and we want to try and stop that before it happens," said OPD Det. Larry Cahill.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s or 30s wearing a dark hat and white t-shirt.  Second man was also hit by shrapnel from the bullets, and will be ok.

Williams is a sister, mother, and grandmother who originally grew up in Des Moines, IA.  Her son, William Jones, says she was a wonderful woman who was known around her complex and took care of everybody without a problem.

Jones says he has to have hope that someone will come forward, and doesn't know how someone could live with themselves if they saw his mother murdered and did nothing about it.

“If y’all actually saw her be shot and lay there, and you aren’t saying anything I don’t have any respect for you I don’t.  To me that’s not humane,” Jones explained. “Honor her name for what she did for y’all.”
