Volunteers folded thousands of paper cranes after a rash of violence in Omaha.

But now they have a new purpose. Thousands of the symbolic birds can be found at Ted and Wally's Ice Cream store near 12th and Jackson.

On Tuesday, owners took down one thousand and will fly them to Orlando. They want to show support for the community after the mass shooting at the Pulse Night Club two weeks ago. They will be sending the cranes to The Center Orlando which says on its web site it promotes and empowers the GLBT Community.

Omaha Peace Project organizers are now trying to decide what to do with the rest of the paper cranes.
