Nebraska State Patrol officials say5 people are confirmed dead, others injured in a multi-vehicle crash just 4 miles west of Brule on I-80.

According to the NSP, the crash involved a semi and several vehicles and it occurred just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
NSP's Preliminary reports indicate a semi was westbound on I-80 when it struck the rear of a westbound van.
Officials say at least two other vehicles were also involved, with at least one vehicle catching fire.
NSP Troopers have confirmed that five people have died, with other additional injured.
Currently, I-80 WB has reopened at Ogallala but NSP officials say to watch for slowdowns & congestion. However, I-80 EB lanes are still closed at this time.
NSP officials recommend travelers to check 511 for traffic updates.
