The Nebraska State Patrol had a surprise for commercial truck drivers in Omaha on Thursday.

Troopers conducted 66 inspections of commercial vehicles that might not travel outside the city or pass through weigh stations during their regular routes. Those inspections found 208 safety violations, which resulted in 32 vehicles being taken off the road. Troopers can force the vehicles to be parked for a variety of reasons related to bad brakes, tires, or other issues that pose immediate safety risks.  One driver was also not allowed to continue driving because they did not have a commercial driver's license. A total of $7,700 in fines were issued.

This was the third surprise inspection this year.
