It was an explosion that rocked the Old Market. In early January 2016, a blast at M’s Pub sent the Mercer building into flames. Firefighters battled the fire for hours, and for months, there was uncertainty whether the building could be saved.

But the re-building process began, and M’s Pub is on track to reopen Nov. 1.

“It’s been a long time coming, but well worth the wait,” owner Ann Mellen said.

She said it feels amazing to be on the verge of reopening M’s, “It is so fun dashing around getting everything ready.”

General Manager Marta Keller said she shares that anticipation.

“Seeing it all come together, it is exciting and relief and nervous,” Keller said.

People in the Old Market are excited to see M’s Pub nearly finished.

“That is our favorite spot here, so it was a tragedy when it blew up,” Tom Kessler said.

M’s is saving a peek inside the restaurant until they officially reopen, but they have shared photos of the same green countertops and a look at what construction crews have put together as the recreate the same M’s Pub.

“I saw it being shred multiple times on my Facebook feed that they were reopening,” Caitlin Little said.

The patio outside also looks ready to go, and has new heated for those cold night.

“It feels like coming home,” Mellen said.

With reservations under way since Tuesday, the phone has been ringing nonstop. M's Pub can be reached at the same number.

“You just know what the future is about to hold, and that makes it all worthwhile,” Keller said.
