Michelle Wilson-Root, Whose daughter's death created a political firestorm both here and in Washington, made a surprise appearance at the Trump event in Council Bluffs.

The man accused of causing her death an undocumented immigrant who is nowhere to be found.

It was especially emotional for them as the rally took place at the Mid-America center where they last saw their daughter Sarah alive at her graduation in January.

But they said they had to be there to support the man who's supported them.

The Root family says Trump the only candidate who's tried to help them get justice for their daughter Sarah, who police say was killed by Eswin Mejia an undocumented drunk driver back in January.

"After he killed my daughter, they released him again, now where is he, nobody knows," Wilson-Root said.

Wilson-Root says they've been able to advocate with a louder voice because of Donald Trump and his staff.

"I owe them, for keeping my daughter's voice out there. I owe them for taking this nationally. I owe them for being the only ones that will speak up with us and for us,” she said.

Sarah's dad, Scott Root said they're appreciative of Trump's support  and will continue to support him in return.

"We’re a vocal family, until something gets changed or done, we're going to keep rocking, and keep rolling, as well as our friends and family and that's just the way it's going to be, he said.

Wilson-Root said her words were thoughts that were weighing on her mind since the debate on Monday. She says she loves trump and was honored to see and speak to him again today.

Afterwards, Sarah Root's family spoke with KMTV senior reporter Jake Wasikowski.
