Memorial Weekend brings the unofficial start of the summer season, but one metro area pool needs your help to keep it from shutting down.

Oak Hill Pool in Ralston at 74th & Q St. is set to open Saturday, but they don't want it to be their last opening weekend.

The private pool is not owned by the city, and relies on memberships to continue to stay open.

A Douglas County inspector told the pool board that they need to replace a retaining wall by next year, or they will have to shut down.  They say it could by a safety hazard.

The board has started a “Go Fund Me” page to get help paying for the renovations.  They'd also like to fix other issues like the filtration system.

Oak Hill has been open in Ralston for almost 60 years.

"To see how many kids, and families are enjoying this place, barbequing, and swimming and having fun and throwing balls around it's irreplaceable absolutely irreplaceable in this community,” said David Buckley, President of Oak Hill Pool.

Oak Hill serves about 150 families a year, and has a swim team and other services.  They are a 501c7 non-profit organization.

They hope former Oak Hill swimmers will remember the great times they had here, and want to keep the pool cool for generations to come.
