Saturday, in Omaha’s Old Market, people demonstrated against the current political climate.
Dozens of police officers were on standby downtown after 5 p.m. for the demonstration.
The group carried signs with political slogans.
Many of them wore face coverings, protesting President Donald Trump.
About 50 protesters, many wearing ski masks, marched through downtown between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
"We're out here because after the election people have become complacent,” said Luis Jimenez, Omaha. “Some people are out here eating, which is fine. This is a way we can bring the message out and they can understand that are people who still care what's going on in this country and we're going to keep the fight going."
Protests say they want change with the current political climate.
The masks, they say, are to show solidarity with their group and protect their identities.
This President Trump supporter says he respects the right to protest, but says protests nationwide since the election don't help anyone.
"You start waving communist flags and you start burning President Trump stuff or you start violence and riots, that's not working,” said Michael Barrett. “That's not what brings us together. That's part of the reason I left my support for the Democrats because I felt like they were not uniting." f
There were extra police units on hand including a chopper flying overhead.
No arrests were made.
