A Facebook page dedicated to helping pet owners find their lost animals raised $3,500 in memory of a police dog killed in the line of duty.

The Lost Pets of Omaha Area Facebook page asked followers for donations following the death of the Omaha Police Department’s K-9, Kobus, on Jan. 23.

Organizers presented the money to Kobus’ handler, Officer Matt Mckinney, Monday.  McKinney is working with a new dog named Harley.

Kobus was shot and killed by a suspect during and extended standoff, according to police.  The suspect, Mark L’Heureux, died on Feb. 2 while being held at the Douglas County Jail.
