Loessfest started this Memorial day weekend and over a thousand people are expected to attend the events and concerts over the next few days.

On Saturday hundreds filled the Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park to see the Imagination Movers.

Larry Foster with the City of Council Bluffs said they will be watching the chance of bad weather all weekend. There is a mobile command unit set up and people watching from the ground.

“They have a whole plan about what announcements we make and how to tell people what to do” he said.

Earlier in the week weather caused delays at the Big Ten Baseball Tournament right across the river and Loessfest organizers hope the sunny skies will last through the weekend.

“I always look on the bright side and if it says 40% it might happen, I see the 60%,” said Foster.

Concert attendees were glad to see the clear skies on Saturday to enjoy the frozen treats and free concert.

“We were worried because they were talking about rain before, so we were worried it was going to rain us out,” said Michael Bradley.

The wind prevented organizers from inflating bouncy castles, but kids had plenty of other ways to stay entertained.

On Sunday Kool & the Gang will perform at 7pm, for a full list of events click here.
