It’s the largest recall in American history – airbags that can explode and send shrapnel through the car.
Tens of millions of vehicles, involved in the recall, remain on the road.
Safety experts are warning people with certain Honda or Acura vehicles to immediately have the airbags replaced.

The size of the recall worldwide is expected to get bigger.
While getting the oil changed in her 2015 Nissan Sentra, a mechanic told Rebecca Barrientos-Patlan that her car has a Takata airbag, the cause of the largest recall in US history.
"I was very angry because they sold me a broken car,” Patlan said. “I paid more than $30,000 for this car, my husband and I. So he's driving this back and forth to Lincoln every day in a dangerous car.”
Patlan says she is frustrated that neither the dealership nor Takata let her know the airbag in her brand new car may be dangerous.
"It was important enough for them after I complained to get me in there immediately,” Patlan said. Whether that was about the complaint or that was about my safety or my family's safety (I don’t know).”
Owners of 2001 to 2003 Hondas or Acuras have a greater risk of harm.
Eight of the 10 US Takata-related deaths were driving those model year Hondas or Acuras, said Rose White, spokeswoman for AAA Nebraska.
"Each year it grows in magnitude,” White said. “Certainly with this becoming a situation that could involve, ultimately, 100 million vehicles on a global scale. It's significant. It's alarming. It's one of those situations. We have to deal with it at this point and that means consumers need to stay alert.”
Vehicle owners with makes all the way to the end of 2015 could potentially have Takata airbags, White said.
