FULL EMAIL STATEMENT:

Dear Hillrise Families,

Yesterday evening, a Hillrise student reported seeing an adult male inappropriately touch another student during pick-up. Once we were able to speak with the student in question and corroborate the story—we immediately notified law enforcement. Both children involved reported that the man was walking with a woman they presumed to be his wife. One child reported seeing the couple leave the area in a black van. It is unclear whether or not the man and woman were at the school to pick up a student. The police are working to piece more details together today.

Staff members will be outside the school and near safety patrol stops to help ensure the safety of all our students as school dismisses today and for the foreseeable future. There will also be police present during pick-up today.

We had some very diligent students who saw something and reported it and we are very proud of them. Please take time today to review stranger danger with your child. We take this issue very seriously and will continue to work closely with police to keep all Hillrise students safe.

Sincerely,

Ms. Madden
