A Douglas County jury has resumed deliberations in accused Creighton killer Anthony Garcia's murder trial.

Garcia is on trial for the 2008 murders of Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman in Dundee, and Dr. Roger and Mary Brumback in 2013.

Jurors have the option of convicting Garcia of first or second degree murder, or find him not guilty. Prosecutors said  Garcia committed the murders as revenge for his firing from the Creighton pathology department in 2001. Thomas Hunter was the son of Dr, William Hunter, who fired Garcia from Creighton.

During closing arguments, County Attorney Don Kleine told the jury the evidence in the case points to Garcia, and asked the jury to give peace to the family of the victims, and peace to the community by holding Garcia accountable.
Defense attorney Bob Motta, Jr. countered by telling jurors the state did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Garcia did it, and that two other people of interest had just as much motive as Garcia.

Garcia did not testify in his own defense during the trial which began October 3rd.
