Family and friends continue to mourn the men killed Friday during a 12-hour standoff in Northwest Omaha.

41-year-old Jason Edwards and 35-year-old John Edwards were killed while helping their sister Jaime Edwards Move her things out of an old boyfriend's house. Deputies say the man, Kenneth Clark, held the woman hostage for hours, before letting her go and eventually killing himself.

Christian Lind, Jason Edwards’ neighbor, reflected on the moment he heard the grim news.

"I remember I was in the garage and I heard my wife scream," Lind said, "I came running in and she's looking at her phone.

"We saw the names, she just kept saying, 'No, this is a different Jason, this is a different John."

Lind realized his dear friend and neighbor Jason Edwards had been killed.

"You don't want to believe it, you don't want to believe…something like that could happen to them," Lind said.

Lind knew Jason Edwards for over ten years.

On Friday, they were supposed to hang out for Christian's birthday; Jason's birthday was on Saturday.

Friday evening, after the families learned of the news, Lind walked outside of his house and saw Tonya, Jason's wife.

" I just walk up to her, she didn't have to say anything," Lind said, "I gave her a hug…What more can you do?"

Both John and Jason were married. John has three sons, and Jason leaves behind two daughters.

"They were just a wonderful family," Lind said.
