Businesses ruined, people out of their homes, the Old Market will never look the same again.

Firefighters spent more than a day battling the flames in the heart of the Old Market, but there's still a lot of unanswered questions about what actually caused the fire.

The Metropolitian Utilities District responded to the leaking gas. MUD released a timeline of events. November 23, 2015 MUD received a request from the Nebraska One Call Center for a contractor that was working to locate gas and water lines in the area of 11th and Howard Streets.

On January 4, 2016 MUD completed a request to refresth the locate markings of all MUD facilities including main and service lines in that area.

MUD said they can not locate the markings right now because of the structure of the building at 11th and Howard streets. They said they have no reason at this point to believe the locates were not correct.

This fire is still under investiagation by MUD and OFD.

More details will come available once the city holds a press conference Monday.
