At a news conference today the Omaha fire chief said cats were located alive in the building next to M's Pub. The owner of those cats tells KMTV Action 3 News they have not yet been rescued and are still in the condo on the 4th floor.

Lindsey Klotz says she's lived in the condo for three years. She has two Maine Coon cats named Pearl and Goliath. She says she spoke with firefighters on Saturday but at that time they were most concerned with locating all possible people in the building. Then they were ordered to begin a defensive approach to the fire.

Klotz spoke with firefighters on scene Monday morning. She says they went inside the condo and located the cats alive. However, they were not able to get them at the point. She says they are likely very frightened and probably hid from the firefighters. The firefighters told Klotz they would try to get a larger crew into the building later in the day.

Klotz was then told, however, the building was deemed too unsafe to enter.

At a news conference today, city officials said it could be days until it is safe to enter the condo building. That building did not sustain as much damage as the building which houses M's Pub. City officials said it could take weeks to get into the M's Pub building.

Klotz told us she plans to continue to contact the city in hopes they might be able to get into the building as soon as possible. She said her cats are "probably terrified."
