Wednesday night, the Boys and Girls Club of the Midlands opened the new college and career center, giving young people in South Omaha a new resource.

The center was made possible by a $35,000 grant from The Hartford. It plans to use the resources to better prepare teens for life after high school.

"In this space, teens will be able to have access to Chromebooks, they have access to smart TV, they have a new smart board," Jermaine Jones, VP of community and scholarship outreach at the Boys and Girls Club, said. "It is also a space they can come to get their homework done."

The center will also hold classes about college and career readiness as well as hosting a mentoring program.
