A father accused of driving drunk with three children in the car is behind bars on a $1 million bond.

Douglas County Attorney's Office charged Benjamin Thompson with child abuse and DUI charges.

Officials say Thompson was involved in a hit-and-run crash at Sorensen parkway and Storz Expressway on Monday night.

Three young children were inside the car when the crash happened.

8-year-old Kazlyn Thompson and 6-year-old Aly Thompson were taken to UNMC with critical injuries. While 1-year-old Jade Hetrick was also taken to UNMC for treatments.

Police tracked him down at Miller Park where they say he was trying to dump alcohol containers in the trash.

Thompson’s bond has been set to $1 million and a pre-hearing is set for November 21st.
