Police open fire on armed suspect
Officers on leave after fatal shooting
Police were called to North 42nd Street shortly after 4 am Tuesday morning. That's where Omaha Police shot and killed 31 year old Tyree Bell.
Police say they responded to a disturbance call involving an armed suspect with a shot gun. For two hours, police negotiated with Bell who was armed and had a child in his arms.
Four Omaha Police officers opened fire hitting bell multiple times but police say Bell was making threats and suicidal statements. Fearing for the child and the officer's lives, they fired their weapons.
Bell was taken to Creighton University Medical Center where he died.
