Fatal Crash Site Turns into Memorial for Mourned Teen
This spot on West Dodge Road has turned into something more.
"Shocked, I didn't believe it at first."
Friends say 18 year old Jacob Dickmeyer is gone.
"He was kinda the life of the party basically I mean he would just lighten anything up, a little bit."
A homemade cross, flowers and Christmas lights sit in the dirt near 204th Street, placed just hours after Dickmeyer died.
It happened around 1:00 a.m. Police say a witness noticed a car being driven in an aggressive manner, changing lanes continuously at a high rate of speed.
The car headed Eastbound on Dodge made a sudden lane change, went into the median, rolled into the Westbound lanes and tumbled off of the road.
"This morning on Dodge street there were a bunch of kids who went out there."
Paramedics took 19 year old Colby Burke to UNMC with non life threatening injuries but Dickmeyer didn't make it.
"I don't know him as well as other people know him and I'm pretty bummed out, so I just can't imagine."
Classmates and friends write messages of goodbye where this memorial sits, many wondering why he was taken so soon.
