Fire Department Torches Mansion
Old Kush mansion used for fire training
Once a family home, tonight a pile of burned debris. For miles Sunday, you could see the Kush mansion in Gretna, burning to the ground. It wasn't supposed to end this way. About 14-thousand square feet of luxury turned into billows of smoke and flames. It's a training exercise that became a huge photo-op.
The house actually used to be one of the largest homes in the area - built by Rod Kush, a former Buffalo Bills safety and business man. After he faced financial problems, the property changed hands several times. This go around - the owner let the Gretna fire department take care of it with pallets, straw, paper and a match.
