Pipe Bomb Found in Omaha Park
Bomb Squad Removed an Explosive From Seymour Smith Park
The bomb squad was called to Seymour Smith Park around 4:30 Tuesday afternoon. Someone found a pipe bomb lying in a creek bed a few hundred feet from a jogging trail.
The bomb squad detonated the 10 inch pipe bomb in the park near 68th and Harrison.
Aaron Gurzick with the Omaha Police Department told Action 3 News, "there was actual powder inside so it was actually a live pipe bomb...it wasn't a hoax."
Police do not know who put the explosive in the park. Their investigation continues.
