Eppley Travelers Deal with Hurricane Sandy
Direct flights from Eppley to the East Coast nixed.
Eyes weren't exactly to the sky at Eppley as passengers narrowed in on the departure screens. The word cancelled appeared a few times. Ben Halbur is trying to get back to Vermont. He's a baker and Christmas orders are piling up. He'll have to wait for who knows how long.
Halbur says, "Albany is not a big airport so there's not a lot of flights going in and they're usually packed so it's going to be hard to get a seat when they start running planes again." Bill Kalvert flew into Eppley from Louisville Monday afternoon. The superstorm is expected to dump snow on Kentucky but with more than 10,000 cancelled flights for Monday and Tuesday.
Bill says it was smooth sailing. Bill says, "I got there at 8am for a 9:20am flight and the airport was empty." His friends weren't so lucky. They're trying to get in from Dallas, their plane is late. Bill says, "They were delayed two hours and I don't see them on the board up here. It may delayed again, I'm not sure."
