Heartbreaking Vigil for Brandon Kamphaus
One by one, memories and words of grief echoed over the microphone.
Brandon's soccer jersey hung high on the goal post, while family, friends and classmates lit candles.
"I just broke down while I was driving, it was really hard for me."
On Sunday the entire Fremont community, shaken over the news that Brandon's body had bee found.
Choking back the tears many had trouble even getting out the words.
''He was a good captain, a good friend and an amazing brother, I know we're all gonna miss him."
Embraced with hugs, surrounded in a circle of light, Brandon's family saw how many lives he truly touched.
"And just looking around at all the faces you know, look at all the people he's impacting, and he was determined he always was determined no matter what he did, you know and I'm proud, I'm proud of him. I'm proud of his accomplishments ."
Grateful his son could make people laugh, even for a short while, Kevin Kamphaus asked Fremont to celebrate Brandon's life, not mourn it.
Ending the night with a song and prayer, the community holding one another tight knowing Brandon will never be forgotten.
