Omaha, NE – The damage is hundreds of miles away but so many of you here in the heartland are asking: How can I help?

Many organizations like the Red Cross are providing shelter, food and other supplies to storm survivors along the east coast.
One best way for you to help, is to donate blood. The Red Cross says about 300 blood drives on the east coast were cancelled because of Sandy and blood supplies are low. To donate go to www.redcross.org or text the word “Redcross” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
The Salvation Army has dozens of mobile feeding units and shelters along the east coast that are working to serve thousands of survivors. To donate visit www.salvationarmyusa.org
The American Humane Association is working to save animals caught up in the storm. To donate visit www.americanhumane.org
Save the Children is also working to provide relief to families and their children. Go www.savethechildren.org to donate.
AmeriCares is providing medicine and other supplies to people affected by Hurricane Sandy. Visit www.americares.org to donate.
