Omaha, NE – The early freeze means free food. A community garden is asking the public to come out and pick produce before it’s ruined by the cold snap.

City Sprouts is giving away food before temperatures dip too low. The organization provides a community garden that anyone can use to grow their own food.
Roxanne Williams is here picking food from her plant bed.
“Once they freeze then they really aren’t very valuable. The taste will be substantially diminished and it’ll get soft and squishy so it’s better to pick them now before it freezes,” says Williams.
The garden lost some veggies last night during the freeze but there’s still plenty of food left.
City Sprouts asks that you pay $2.00/lb but if you can’t afford it, no problem.
They’ll be out there again Sunday and Monday trying to unload produce before it goes bad.
