Pedestrian Dies After Hit & Run Crash
64-year-old Frank Huerta was hit by a car on 42nd & H as he was walking home.
Omaha, NE – A sister mourns the loss of her brother. This is the second death in her family in five months.
Joanna Huerta’s 64-year-old brother Frank Huerta was hit by a car on 42nd & H, as he was walking home from a bar near his home Friday around 11 p.m. She’s still grieving after her mother died last spring.
Omaha Police say 17-year-old, Mikala Rinehart was driving northbound on 42nd St. She hit Huerta and fled the scene.
A passerby found Huerta’s body at the corner of the intersection. Joanna blames herself for not being there when he may have needed her.
Neighbors say they’re scared of crossing 42nd St. because cars fly through at very high speeds.
Joanna saw her brother for the last time Wednesday when they had dinner. She regrets not expressing her emotions to him.
Huerta left behind three adult children.
