Council Bluffs - Many families are still struggling during these tough economic times. But on Friday, more than a dozen people got in the driver's seat. 13 families were chosen to get a donated car. It's part of a program called, "Cars 4 Christmas".
CD 105.9 handed over the keys to the deserving famlies.
Tish Horne and her two sons got a red car just in time for the holidays. It's been a tough 3 years for the family. Tish's son lost his father, Tish lost her job and car. But thanks to "Cars 4 Christmas", she's behind the wheel again.
"It means a lot to me," she said. "I want to be able to take my kids see their family that is out of town."
Terry Franz is the man behind the joy.
"We are just giving them a basic donated car that is mechanically sound and hopefully that takes them to the next level," Terry said.
For single mom Samantha Harris, that's a new job.
"Just a fresh new start for us. I want to get the year started off in a good way," Samantha said.
