THE DURHAM MUSEUM ON TRACK GUILD PRESENTS “AS MODERN AS MODERN OMAHA”
The Durham Museum On Track Guild is finalizing plans for their annual luncheon, “As Modern As Modern Omaha.” The event will be held on Monday, August 25, 2014 at The Durham Museum at 801 South 10th Street in Omaha. The luncheon will start at 11 am with a silent auction, raffle and social hour, followed by a noon luncheon and presentation, “Preserving the Modern Past: Union Station and The Durham Museum.” Guest speakers are Jerry Berggren and Julie Reilly. Mr. Berggren, AIA, is a preservation architect and principal of Berggren Architects of Lincoln. He has been involved with saving historic structures since 1990. He has lent his expertise on formal conservation assessments of numerous institutions including The Durham Museum; Joslyn Art Museum; Museum of Nebraska Art; the American Swedish Institute (Minneapolis); the Danish Immigrant Museum (Elkhorn, IA); the Five Civilized Tribes Museum (Muskogee, OK); and the City of Deadwood, SD, a World Heritage Site. Ms. Reilly has more than 30 years experience as an art conservator, educator, collections care consultant and administrator. Her career has led her around the globe and across the nation, working with numerous institutions including The Durham Museum; the Smithsonian Institution; The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation; The Winterthur Museum; the Nebraska State Historical Society; KANEKO and the Joslyn Castle, where she currently serves as Executive Director. Luncheon Chairs are Jill Bydalek, Mary deSouza, Gina Greder, Mary Jo Langdon and Marietta Luellen. On Track Guild President is Kyle Robino. The Honorary Chairs are the 17 years of On Track Guild Presidents. Tickets for the luncheon start at $75.
