Senior Safety Open House
Omaha families are invited to learn about ways to keep senior loved ones safe at home as part of National Safety Month. A model kitchen, bedroom and bathroom will be on display to review safe home adaptations for seniors. At the open house, families can schedule a free in-home safety assessment of their senior’s home or pick up a free home safety checklist. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 20 million seniors ages 65 and older visit the emergency room each year. Nearly a third of these visits are injury-related, with many occurring in the home. However, almost half of all home accidents by seniors (48 percent) can be avoided according to a recent survey of emergency room doctors, conducted by the Home Instead Senior Care® network. For more information call the local Home Instead Senior Care office at 402-932-4555 or visit www.MakingHomeSaferforSeniors.com.
