  • Print

NFC invites you to attend its next Community Advisory Board Meeting on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Child Saving Institute, located at 4545 Dodge Street in Omaha. The theme of this meeting is "It takes a Village” present by Rondae Hill, resident of Prospect Village Initiative (aka Prospect Hill Neighborhood Association), Teela A. Mickles, Founder and CEO of Compassion In Action Inc. (CIA), and Decua Jean-Baptiste, Principal of Franklin Elementary School. Rondae will review the activities of the neighborhood resident to help children and students in the area. She will also talk about why being a foster parent is so important for helping children in our village. Teela has been involved in helping women and children who are incarcerated. Teela started her faith-based program (CIA) many years ago. CIA is currently housed at the former Wesley House and Teela’s ministry is focused on gang prevention, parent validation, crises intervention and community awareness initiatives and activities. Decua will talk about what Franklin Elementary is doing to make positive changes for its children and families. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. A portion of each meeting is set aside for public comments and questions. At each meeting we cannot address specifics of an individual’s case or other confidential issues, but if there are questions or concerns at a higher level, we are open to community feedback. NFC supports a policy of complete transparency of all phases of child welfare reform. A light meal is provided for all in attendance. We welcome any questions and suggestions for potential topics that you would like to see presented at the CAB meetings.
