Head for the Cure 5K Run and Walk
The popular Head for the Cure (HFTC) 5K is coming to Omaha. The HFTC 5K event, one of the largest 5Ks in the Kansas City area and now conducted in 15 cities, is anticipating a great turnout in Omaha in year one. This event is a family-oriented activity and a sanctioned run for serious runners. The Head for the Cure Foundation has raised $3 million for brain cancer research since the first HFTC 5K was organized in '03 in suburban KC. More than $825,000 was raised in 2013 with attendance records being set in Kansas City, North Texas (suburban Dallas) and Wichita. For the last eight years, the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC) has been the primary beneficiary of the Head for the Cure Foundation. The BTTC is a network of medical centers with the expertise and the desire to participate in state-of-the-art clinical trials investigating new treatments for malignant brain tumors.
