Who: Pilot Club of Omaha, a chapter of Pilot International, is a community service organization (501c3) that has been serving the local area for more than 50 years. Our focus is on improving the lives of people that have been affected by brain injuries or illnesses, including caregivers. Madonna School serves mildly to moderately disabled children from all over the metro area. A sensory room will be a welcome addition to the school, designed to develop people's senses, usually through special lighting, music, and objects. It can be used as a therapy for children with limited communication skills. Multi-sensory equipment is a vital and effective part in the treatment of sensory disorders and can help develop key life skills including vocalization, gross motor skills, color recognition and tracking. Many of Madonna’s students could benefit from what may be known as a chill out room or safe haven, where they can calm down when overloaded with stimulation, stress or anxiety. The event is open to the public. Pre-registering is encouraged. Desserts, door prizes and raffle items are donated by local businesses.
