Omaha Heart Ball presented by Lexus of Omaha
The Omaha American Heart Associated is anticipating 700 social, business, medical and community leaders to attend this year’s Heart Ball presented by Lexus of Omaha on Saturday, February 1 at Embassy Suites – LaVista. The black tie event is celebrating its 26th year with a “Wild About Heart” theme. The Omaha American Heart Association is looking to raise more than $500,000 dollars for research and education in the fight against heart disease and stroke, our No. 1 and No. 4 killers. The 2014 Heart Ball Honorary Chairs are David and Lori Scott and the Heart Ball Chairs are Trev and Angie Alberts. Also in attendance will be the 2013-2014 Sweethearts, and Heart Ball Prince Jake Alexander. The evening begins at 5:00 PM with the Patron Party and crowning of the Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Heart Prince, Jake Alexander. From 6:00 PM – 7:25 PM attendees will have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items and participate in the bid board auction, while enjoying cocktail hour. At 7:30 PM the presentation portion of the evening begins, which includes an Open Your Heart Pledge, dinner and a live auction, followed by live music and dancing at the Pulse Party. Money raised from the event will be used to fund live-saving research in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Currently the American Heart Association is funding $2.9 million for research in Nebraska including ten awards at Creighton University and UNMC in Omaha. Research funded by the American Heart Association has led to medical advances such as CPR, life-extending drugs (including clot-busters), pacemakers, bypass surgery, the heart-lung machine, and surgical techniques to repair heart defects. Despite the many advances, cardiovascular disease remains our nation’s No. 1 killer. People like Heart Ball Prince Jake Alexander are counting on the American Heart Association for research discoveries yet to be made.
