NFC Jan. Community Advisory Board Meeting
Nebraska Families Collaborative (NFC) invites you to attend its next Community Advisory Board Meeting on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the South Omaha Public Library located at 2808 Q Street. The theme of this meeting is Public Policy Considerations in the Latino Community presented by Dr. Jonathan Benjamin-Alvarado, Professor of Political Science at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Dr. Benjamin-Alvarado will talk about what he sees as future trends affecting Latino in our community. He is an advocate for public and community engagement. Dr. Benjamin-Alvarado is part of a coalition of UNO Latino professors who are promoting progressive issues and ideas about understanding the community. Dr. Benjamin-Alvarado will provide information to help make sense of the social landscape affecting many families in the community. He has published many academic articles and has traveled extensively in other countries doing research. Dr. Benjamin-Alvarado will outline the trends and issues and then will be open to questions from the participants at the meeting. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. About the Community Advisory Board: The Community Advisory Board is made up of people who are child welfare stakeholders in Douglas and Sarpy Counties. The Board discusses issues of concern in child welfare, including foster care, visitation, family team meetings and treatment services. Community advisory board members meet on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at locations around Omaha.
