MaverickPR Presents Santa Paws
Bring your furry friends to the Bookworm in Countryside Village, 87th and Pacific Streets, on Sunday, Dec. 2, from noon to 3 p.m. to get their picture taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus for a worthy cause. MaverickPR, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will be on site to help pets take photos with Santa. The cost for photos is $15, with the proceeds going to Hearts United, a national no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization. Hearts United for Animals’ major areas of effort are to end overpopulation of domestic animals and the suffering of dogs in large breeding establishments. Hearts United for Animals is a 501(c)(3) organization that receives no government funding and exists solely on donations and the all-volunteer staff. This is the seventh year MaverickPR has offered Santa Paws as a way to rain money for animal shelters or rescue groups. This year the students will also have a bin for donations of much needed pet supplies and food for Hearts United. “Our students especially look forward to this event each year because they love working with animals and are very supportive of the work a shelter like Hearts United does to save them,” said Karen Weber, PRSSA faculty adviser. Pets and people can enjoy holiday goodie bags.
