A CANDLELIGHT VIGIL IN HONOR OF VETERANS
On November 10th at 6 PM, Nebraska’s Got Your 6, a public relations campaign, will be hosting a candlelight vigil and a moment of silence on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge in downtown Omaha. The goal of this event is to raise awareness of, and show appreciation for, the defending of our freedom and the sacrifices military men and women make.
This campaign strives to honor veterans in our community as well as promote organizations that support our military men and women and appreciate their sacrifices. "Nebraska's Got Your 6" comes from the military term got your 6. When telling directions on a clock face 12 would be in front of you and 6 would be behind you, the side you can't see. So when someone says "I have got your six" it means that they have got your back. The mission of this campaign is to show the military veterans both nationally and locally that Nebraska's got their 6.
To successfully reach the goals this campaign wishes to execute, the campaign managers are asking the community to come together for a night of good company and hot chocolate as we “light up the night” for our men and women in uniform (candles will be provided at the bridge for a donation).
