The Omaha Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) request your presence at its Annual Freedom Fund Banquet at the Ramada Plaza Hotel and Convention Center (formerly Holiday Inn), 3321 South 72nd Street on October 27, 2011  The social hour will start at 6:00 p.m. with formal program and dinner at 7:00 p.m.

Our speaker for the evening will be Mr. Tavis Smiley.  A broadcaster, author, publisher, advocate, and philanthropist, Tavis Smiley continues to be an outstanding voice for change. Smiley is currently the host of the late-night television talk show Tavis Smiley on PBS and The Tavis Smiley Show from Public Radio International (PRI). Smiley also co-host the intellectually energetic radio program Smiley and West, also from PRI.  Tavis Smiley will also bring the internationally acclaimed America I AM: The African American Imprint traveling museum exhibition to Omaha as special feature of the Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.  The exhibition celebrates the extraordinary impact of African American contributions to our nation and the world, as told through rare artifacts, memorabilia, and multimedia.

The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and discrimination. This event is the main fundraiser and source of support for the local NAACP branch. 100% of the branch clients are individuals at or below the federal poverty level. We hope you will consider supporting this fundraising effort.

We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to working with you to make the 2011 Freedom Fund Banquet the BIGGEST and BEST that Omaha has ever seen.
