Omaha, NE - The Nebraska Dachshund Rescue Team made a special delivery to Ben Edwards, Jen Parkyns and their baby. They gave the family a new dog named Chloe.
The family lost nine dogs and a cat after a fire caused carbon monoxide to fill up their home Friday night. Ben and Jen tell Action 3 News it was their love that brought them under one roof, "Ben and I both worked at the Nebraska Humane Society together. That's where we met. He had his dogs. I had my dogs and there was just no way we were going to get rid of them when we moved in together," says Parkyns.
The sole surviving pet is a cat named Moo. Moo is sick but the vet said he should make a full recovery. The family says it's been a difficult few days but with the addition of the new dog to the family and a little more time, they should make a full recovery too.
